The problem has always been getting your supporter data into an SMS platform without a painful manual process — especially when your lists and tags are constantly changing. This integration keeps everything in sync so you can focus on the message, not the data wrangling.
How it works
Connect your NationBuilder nation to Mobile Message (you'll just need your nation slug), and your signups with Australian mobile numbers are automatically imported. From there, changes sync every 15 minutes, with a full re-sync running daily as a safety net. NationBuilder stays your source of truth — Mobile Message just stays in step.
Sync your lists and tags. Pick which NationBuilder lists and tags you want to sync — things like "Doorknock Volunteers", "Donors 2026", or supporters tagged by electorate. Each one becomes a contact list in Mobile Message, with membership kept in sync automatically.
Respect opt-out preferences. NationBuilder's "Do Not Contact" and "Mobile Opt-In" fields are honoured by default. Signups with those flags set won't be synced to Mobile Message, so you're not reaching people who've asked not to be contacted.
Send targeted bulk SMS. Once your lists are synced, pick a group, write your message, personalise it with names if you like, and send. Schedule messages ahead of time or send them on the spot — useful when plans change at short notice (and in campaigns, they always do).
Replies log back to NationBuilder. When a supporter replies to your SMS, Mobile Message can log that interaction on their NationBuilder profile. Your team gets visibility into the conversation without switching tools — handy for tracking volunteer responses, voter outreach, and supporter engagement.

The integration is free. You just pay standard Mobile Message rates for the SMS you send — from 2c per message. No per-contact fees, no platform surcharges.
Getting started
Already have a Mobile Message account? Head to Settings > Integrations, click NationBuilder, enter your nation slug, and follow the prompts. Your contacts will start syncing immediately.
